The Health Innovation and Long Now communities of Boston get together with Jason Crawford, founder of the Roots of Progress Institute, to discuss the future of health progress and the very long view of health.
Staying healthy has always been one of the great concerns of human existence. We have come a very long way, more than doubling life expectancy, with dramatic improvements especially in child and maternal mortality. But we still have a very long way to go: we still suffer from cancer and heart disease, we are still vulnerable to pandemics, we still succumb to old age. Jason Crawford, founder of the Roots of Progress Institute and author of The Progress Manifesto (coming 2027), will put medical progress in the context of the long historical view, and offer thoughts on the grand challenge problems for the coming decades.
